I love the marketing campaign that Warner Bros. are using for The Hobbit as they’re really involving the fans giving us as much of a look at what we can expect as they possible can yet without giving too much away. We’ve seen part 1 of director, Peter Jackson’s video diary, a few images from the movie and earlier in the week, Jon put up the first concept image that we’d seen from the prequel to The Lord of the Rings and now Warner Bros. have released another new image via Yahoo.

The first image showed Jed Brophy as Nori, Adam Brown as Ori and Mark Hadlow as Dori and now we get to see concepts of John Callen as Oin and Peter Hambleton as Gloin with the following desciption:

Distant cousins of Thorin Oakenshield, these two doughty Northern Dwarves join the Company out of a sense of loyalty to their kin, and also because they have a substantial sum of money invested in the venture. Along with Bombur, Gloin is the only other married Dwarf in the Company (there being a shortage of female dwarves in general). His wife is an acclaimed beauty with a particularly fine beard. Gloin is the proud father of a young son, Gimli, who will go on to become part of the famous Fellowship of the Ring.

The Hobbit is currently shooting in New Zealand and will be released in two parts in 3D. The first The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will be released on December 14th 2012 with the second part, The Hobbit: There and Back Again coming the following year.

Synopsis: The Hobbit follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins , who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, which was long ago conquered by the dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey , Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakensheild. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Giant Spiders, Shapeshifters and Sorcerers. Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever … Gollum.

Here, alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths of guile and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum’s “precious” ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities … A simple, gold ring that is tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot begin to know.
