Apple TV has unveiled a warm, quietly chaotic first look at the fifth season of ‘Trying,’ the beloved British comedy that has mastered the art of blending heart, humour, and the occasional emotional gut-punch.

Led by Esther Smith and Rafe Spall, who also serve as executive producers, the new season promises to shake up the carefully built family life of Nikki and Jason in ways that feel both hilariously inconvenient and deeply human.

Season five picks up with Nikki and Jason navigating the ripple effects of an unexpected arrival: Kat, the biological mother of Princess and Tyler. Played by Charlotte Riley, Kat’s sudden reappearance lands like a pebble in a still pond… except this pond has feelings, responsibilities, and a very fragile sense of stability.

Princess (Scarlett Rayner) and Tyler (Cooper Turner) are no longer just the adorable centre of Nikki and Jason’s world; they’re now at the heart of a complicated emotional equation.

Returning alongside the central duo is a stellar ensemble that continues to give the series its layered charm. Expect more scene-stealing moments from: Darren Boyd, Siân Brooke, Celia Imrie, Phil Davis, Gbemisola Ikumelo and Colin Morgan.
