Paramount Pictures and Tom Cruise have surprised everyone at this year’s SDCC by dropping the first teaser trailer for ‘Top Gun: Maverick’.
Cruise reprises his role of ace pilot Pete “Maverick” Mitchell with Miles Teller playing Bradley Bradshaw — the son of Anthony Edwards’ character Goose. The film also stars Jennifer Connelly, Glen Powell, Jon Hamm, Ed Harris, and Val Kilmer
Joseph Kosinski, who reunites with Cruise after working together on in sci-fi thriller Oblivion, is directing the movie. Val Kilmer will also reprise his original role as Maverick’s rival pilot Iceman.
The follow up to Tony Scott’s 1986 action outing will see Cruise return as Maverick, who has never lost that loving feeling for his need for speed, is set to return as a flight instructor to a whole host of young Geese, Icemen and Mavericks wanting to follow in his almighty flight footsteps. Iceman, in the original, was a very worthy rival of Maverick’s with his death-defying stunts through the air. No further plot details have as yet unsurfaced.
