Not too sure what to make of this but Vertigo have just announced via a press release that they’ll be bringing ‘Top Cat: The Movie’ to the big screen. I can still remember to this day my dad doing impressions of Top Cat saying hello to Office Dibble in the tradition Top Cat voice but I am struggling to work out how they’ll transition the cartoon to the big screen. But hey, they’re doing it with Postman Pat so why not Top Cat too!

Based on the classic animated Hanna Barbara cartoon series, Top Cat: The Movie sees TC (Top Cat) and the gang face their biggest adventure yet.  A new tech-savvy police chief joins the force and not only threatens to retire bumbling Officer Dibble, but stop the feline antics in Hoagy’s Alley, once and for all.

Here’s the original theme song, poster and the official press release below and we’ll see it on the biog screen August 2012.
