The Woman King

The Woman King is a brilliant new epic action film from Gina Prince-Bythewood that delivers on multiple levels. To mark its release – and this really is one you gotta see – we had the pleasure in speaking to the filmmaker herself, as well as three of the film’s leading stars: Sheila Atim, Lashana Lynch & John Boyega.

We talk to Prince-Bythewood directing action, and keeping a set happy. She talks about balancing the epic-scale blockbuster elements, with the more profound, political points. With the cast we chat about their co-star Viola Davis, and we ask them whether they maintained their character’s accents throughout the shoot. Finally, we ask if working on films like this brings them closer to their heritage and family history. You can watch both interviews in their entirety below.
