To celebrate the hugely anticipated release of The Witcher: Season Two, which comes to Netflix this week, we were lucky enough to sit down with the show’s main cast to find out all about it.

Convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans, and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside.

Cavill, a self-confessed fan of the books and video games, tells us about the world of the show advancing beyond season one, the evolution of Geralt, his relationship with Freya Allen – who plays Ciri in the show – and how he feels about the show moving forward (we also met his dog, Kal, the real star). Next, Freya Allan gushes over Kim Bodnia and how his energy and exuberance enhances the show, as well as their own characters new chapters; and we speak to Joey Batey and Anya Chalotra about stepping into the “real” world of the show, what it has to say about our own world and the reflections on it and what character team-ups they would all like to see in Season 3.

And, we had the pleasure of discussing the show with showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich as she tells us about the pressures of bringing a show to life when everyone has their own idea of what it should look like; influences on the second season; linear and non-linear storytelling and already prepping the next series.
