Marvel has a knack for blowing our minds with stellar casting decisions, and that’s exactly what’s happened with the latest addition to the cast of Daredevil’s second season. They’ve announced that Jon Bernthal (Wolf of Wall Street, The Walking Dead, Fury) has joined the series as the deadly vigilante known as The Punisher.
The Punisher is one of Marvel’s most popular characters. He is a vigilante who aims to clean up New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen by any means necessary, no matter how lethal the results. He’s also clashed with the Man Without Fear a number of times over the years, and their relationship is one fans have been dreaming of seeing play out in live-action for years now. The fact that it’s finally happening is obviously very exciting!
“Jon Bernthal brings an unmatched intensity to every role he takes on, with a potent blend of power, motivation and vulnerability that will connect with audiences,” said Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of TV. “Castle’s appearance will bring dramatic changes to the world of Matt Murdock and nothing will be the same.”
A number of other additions to the cast of Daredevil’s second season are also expected, including Bullseye and Elektra. It was recently rumoured that The Punisher will appear in the series as a way of gauging interest in the vigilante, who may then receive his own series on the online streaming service…
