The Penguin Lessons balances the tricky tonality of a film film rich in comedy and drama, which exists on the shoulders of its leading man, Steve Coogan. To mark the film’s Good Friday release, we had the pleasure of speaking to the man himself, paired with screen legend Jonathan Pryce.
We discuss penguins, naturally, and what it was like to shoot with a real-life animal on set, and what that did to the overall atmosphere of the production. They also speak about the importance of the story being told, and we also ask them about their own experiences with pets. Though more of the cat and dog variety, rather than flightless birds.
