The LEGO empire has been growing inexorably over the last decade or so. They have adapted dozens of pop culture icons and made them their own. You can’t move without stepping on a LEGO piece of one form or another. Now the success of Lord and Miller’s LEGO movie and the big screen Batman variant has given rise to The LEGO Ninjago movie – the first cinematic outing for one of the company’s most popular original titles.

James Kleinmann  sat down with producers Dan Lin and Chris McKay, director Charlie Bean and the cast of The Lego Ninjago Movie, to tell us all about the big screen adventure of Jay, Cole, Zane, Kai, Nya and Lloyd.

The film stars Dave Franco, Fred Armisen, Abbi Jacobson, Olivia Munn, Kumail Nanjiani, Michael Peña, Zach Woods, and Jackie Chan as Sensei Wu. Justin Theroux voices Lord Garmadon. Charlie Bean is directing from a script by Dan and Kevin Hageman, co-writing with Kevin Chesley and Bryan Shukoff.

The film will be released on the 22nd of September in the US and the 13th of October in the UK.
