The end of the year brings with it The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, the final instalment in one of the most successful franchises of all time.

Lionsgate has already been talking about the possibility of sequels and prequels, which is no surprise, given that the first three films have banked well over $2bn. between them. The countdown stands at just over five months before the finale hits, and now Lionsgate has launched the first trailer, giving us our first look at footage from the anticipated sequel.

Jennifer Lawrence is of course returning to lead the cast as Katniss. And she’s joined by Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Sam Claflin, Natalie Dormer, Jena Malone, Mahershala Ali, Elizabeth Banks, Willow Shields, Julianne Moore, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, and many more.

Catching Fire’s Francis Lawrence directs from a script co-written by Danny Strong and Peter Craig.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 will be released in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D on 19th November in the UK and 20th November in the States.

With the nation of Panem in a full scale war, Katniss confronts President Snow (Donald Sutherland) in the final showdown. Teamed with a group of her closest friends – including Gale (Liam Hemsworth), Finnick (Sam Claflin), and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) – Katniss goes off on a mission with the unit from District 13 as they risk their lives to stage an assassination attempt on President Snow who has become increasingly obsessed with destroying her.  The mortal traps, enemies, and moral choices that await Katniss will challenge her more than any arena she faced in The Hunger Games.
