To celebrate the release of The Boys in the Boat, the acclaimed new film from George Clooney, who returns to the director’s chair once more, we had the pleasure of sitting down with some of his cast to find out more about the true-life tale.

RELATED – Red Carpet Interviews with George Clooney & his cast

The Boys in the Boat is a sports drama based on the #1 New York Times bestselling non-fiction novel written by Daniel James Brown. The film, directed by George Clooney, is about the 1936 University of Washington rowing team that competed for gold at the Summer Olympics in Berlin. This inspirational true story follows a group of underdogs at the height of the Great Depression as they are thrust into the spotlight and take on elite rivals from around the world.

Chatting to stars Joel Edgerton and Calum Turner, we talk about the lure of the story, working with Clooney and the advantages of working with an actor as your director, his “classic” style of filmmaking and his unflappable nature, working with the extraordinary cast and doing all of the rowing for real without any room for fakery or cheating. And much more.
