This is one from the “What might have been” archives. Tim Burton’s long-since abandoned Superman reboot project, tentatively titled “Superman Lives” never really got going, however SlashFilm have managed to dig out both some costume test photos and also a short video clip of what is being described as Superman’s “regeneration suit”.

The idea is that after Superman is mortally wounded by Doomsday (who killed Superman in a comic book run many years ago) he dons the suit so that he can heal.

As you can see from the clip below, we are talking about a very different iteration of the suit from any previous incarnations, even if it is a “special” suit for a particular predicament of Kal-El’s. Enjoy the photos and video below and then let us have your comments. Do you wish this vision of Superman had seen the light of day? Does a suit adorned with glowing fibre-optic cable fit your idea of what his costume should look like?

Thanks also to Cesar for the heads up.

Dave Roper
Dave has been writing for HeyUGuys since mid-2010 and has found them to be the most intelligent, friendly, erudite and insightful bunch of film fans you could hope to work with. He's gone from ham-fisted attempts at writing the news to interviewing Lawrence Bender, Renny Harlin and Julian Glover, to writing articles about things he loves that people have actually read. He has fairly broad tastes as far as films are concerned, though given the choice he's likely to go for Con Air over Battleship Potemkin most days. He's pretty sure that 2001: A Space Odyssey is the most overrated mess in cinematic history.
