Telling the remarkable tale of Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary’s historic ascent of Mount Everest, the film stars Genden Phuntsok, Tom Hiddleston, Willem Dafoe, Thinley Lhamo and Tenzin Dalha; it was written by Luke Davies and directed by Jennifer Peedom.
Tenzing will be released in UK cinemas on 16th October 2026, and will also be available on Apple TV from 16th October 2026.
Colin Hart and Abigail Shii were on the red carpet, here are their interviews.
Tenzing UK Premiere Interviews
Plot:
Based on true events, Tenzing follows Tenzing Norgay (Genden Phuntsok), a gifted Himalayan climber whose determination and expertise would ultimately lead him to the summit of Mount Everest alongside New Zealand mountaineer Edmund Hillary (Tom Hiddleston). Encouraged by his wife Dawa (Thinley Lhamo), Tenzing finds an important ally in expedition secretary Jill Henderson (Caitríona Balfe), and together they work to convince Colonel John Hunt (Willem Dafoe) that he deserves a place on the British climbing team rather than being relegated to the role of a Sherpa serving the expedition.
While the Western climbers view Everest as a mountain to be conquered, Tenzing reveres Chomolungma as the sacred mother goddess. As the expedition pushes higher, tensions emerge across differences in background, class and ambition. Yet above the clouds, the hierarchies and expectations of the world below begin to disappear, leaving Tenzing and Hillary united by mutual respect and trust, and for Tenzing, the fulfilment of both a lifelong dream and a spiritual calling.
