Apple Original Films has unveiled the trailer for ‘Tenzing,’ the new feature from award-winning filmmaker Jennifer Peedom, which tells the remarkable true story of Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary’s historic ascent of Mount Everest.

Based on true events, ‘Tenzing’ follows Tenzing Norgay (Genden Phuntsok), a gifted Himalayan climber whose determination and expertise would ultimately lead him to the summit of Mount Everest alongside New Zealand mountaineer Edmund Hillary (Tom Hiddleston).

Encouraged by his wife Dawa (Thinley Lhamo), Tenzing finds an important ally in expedition secretary Jill Henderson (Caitríona Balfe). Together, they work to convince Colonel John Hunt (Willem Dafoe) that Tenzing deserves a place on the British climbing team rather than being relegated to the role of a Sherpa serving the expedition.

The trailer offers a glimpse at the enormous physical and cultural challenges facing the expedition. While the Western climbers view Everest as a mountain to be conquered, Tenzing reveres Chomolungma as the sacred mother goddess, creating a deeply personal connection between the climber and the mountain.

As the expedition pushes higher, tensions emerge across differences in background, class and ambition. Yet above the clouds, the hierarchies and expectations of the world below begin to disappear, leaving Tenzing and Hillary united by mutual respect and trust.

For Tenzing, the journey represents more than a historic achievement. It is the culmination of a lifelong dream and a spiritual calling, with the film exploring the people, relationships and determination behind one of mountaineering’s most celebrated moments.

Directed by Jennifer Peedom, ‘Tenzing’ stars Genden Phuntsok, Tom Hiddleston, Willem Dafoe, Caitríona Balfe, Thinley Lhamo and Tenzin Dalha.
