BeastlyIn an attempt to capitalize on the success of the teen-centric Twilight Saga, a 23 second teaser trailer for Beastly has been released and, even though it is exceptionally short, it is quite possibly one of the worst film promos I have ever seen. It’s the kind of bad where you laugh unintentionally at the voice-over. The teaser actually makes this big budget theatrical release look more like a TV movie or even a TV series.

Adapted from Alex Flinn’s 2007 novel of the same, Beastly is a re-imagining of the classic fairytale Beauty and the Beast set in modern day New York (which by the way has previously been done in the Beauty and the Beast TV series starring Ron Perlman). Written and directed by Daniel Barnz, Beastly stars Alex Pettyfer (Stormbreaker) in the lead role (who apparently only needs to shave his head, sport some odd tattoos, and get a few facial scars and prosthetics to become the beast), Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical) as the love interest, and Mary-Kate Olsen (New York Minute) as the girl who is responsible for transforming a cruel young man into the beast.

Watch the teaser trailer on YouTube if you really want to.

Beastly is set for release in July 2010 in the USA and October 2010 in the UK.
