With FrightFest just around the corner we’re starting to see more of the films preparing to scare the faces off of the collected horror fans. Jennifer Kent wrote and directed the film in question here, drawing on the draining guilt of parenthood and the peculiar unsettling nature of a certain children’s story, the titular Babadook.

From this new trailer it looks like a decent family invasion movie, with Essie Davis dropping the Phryne Fisher act here, with a dead husband and a son she can’t bring herself to love. The child starts bleating about things that go bump in the night and before you can say ‘Don’t read that inappropriately scary kids book’ all bets are off and trousers are in danger.

Watch out for the FrightFest reaction next week, the film is out in the UK on the 24th of October. Baby & Toddler screenings are unlikely.

Here it is. N’night.
