Illumination Entertainment, which teams up with Nintendo, has revealed the line-up of the voice cast that will lead their video game adaptation ‘Super Mario Bros.’

Chris Pratt heads up the cast as Mario alongside Anya Taylor-Joy who will voice Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike.

‘Teen Titans Go! To the Movies” Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic will direct the movie from a screenplay penned by screenwriter Matthew Fogel. Chris Meledandri and Mario’s creator Shigeru Miyamoto will produce.

Universal Pictures will distribute the film which has set a U.S. release of December 21st 2022. International release date(s) are yet to be announced but are expected to follow shortly after.

“We are collaborating with Chris [Meledandri] and his experienced team to not just create a character licensed film, but a new piece of entertainment which brings Super Mario Bros. to life on the screen, and allows everyone to enjoy whether or not they know about the game,” stated Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto.
