While there are some troubling rumours in regards to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, excitement is still at an all-time high for Star Wars Episode VIII. Very little is known about the movie as of right now, and chances are we won’t hear or see anything from this one until early next year. However, Rian Johnson has released a new behind the scenes photo!

Shooting began back in February, and the Looper director captioned this image with, “In the home stretch,” so it appears as if principal photography is now nearing an end (which is good news for John Boyega after he recently landed a leading role in the Pacific Rim sequel).

This robe definitely appear to belong to Luke Skywalker, and speculation is already running rampant in regards to why Johnson chose to show off this particular prop. Chances are it means nothing of course, but don’t be surprised to see it analysed to death regardless!

Star Wars Episode VIII looks set to pick up where The Force Awakens left off, and earlier this year, it was moved from its original May 2017 release date to next December. That will be followed by the Han Solo spinoff in 2018, with Colin Trevorrow’s Episode IX coming in 2019.
