We’re just a few weeks out from the arrival J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek Into Darkness, and the anticipation is understandably high. With a dedicated fanbase as sizeable as that of the franchise, and of Abrams himself, we have a good feeling that it’s going to be one of the biggest films of the year.
We got a brilliant new look at the film earlier in the month with the release of a new full-length trailer. And now moviefone have debuted the first clip from the movie, which features a scene that will be familiar to those who got a nine-minute preview towards the end of last year.

Abrams is directing from a script penned by co-writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (Star Trek, Transformers) and Damon Lindelof (Prometheus).
Star Trek Into Darkness will be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on 9th May here in the UK, with its wide US release date following a week later on May 17th. US fans will also get a chance to see the film a little earlier at two special IMAX preview screenings on May 15th, which are pretty much guaranteed to be sold-out events.
