Stan-Lee-makes-a-cameo-in-Iron-ManHe’s made a cameo in more films than you could probably name, including every film so far in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it looks like we’ll be one cameo short this summer in James Gunn’s highly anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy.

In a recent interview with DweebCast, the legendary comic book writer was asked if he’ll be making his usual appearance in the summer blockbuster, and unfortunately he replied in the negative.

“No, I’m afraid not. This is the one group that I didn’t create; I didn’t write Guardians of the Galaxy. I’m not even sure who they all are. I can’t wait to see the movie.”

So whilst we’re expected to see him this spring in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, as well as The Amazing Spider-Man 2, sadly there’s no need to keep an eye open for an appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Given his reasoning behind not making a cameo, it’s probably a safe bet, then, that we can at least look forward to him closing out Phase Two in Joss Whedon’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, and then hopefully at the start of Phase Three in Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man.

Chris Pratt leads a brilliant cast in Gunn’s upcoming blockbuster, joined by Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close, Ophelia Lovibond, Peter Serafinowicz, and Benicio del Toro.

If you watched Thor: The Dark World through the end of the credits, especially, you should be every bit as excited as I am about this.

Guardians of the Galaxy will be hitting cinemas on August 1st in the US and UK. With or without Stan Lee, I can’t wait. It’s going to be epic.
