Frankenweenie PosterAnnounced last month as the Opening Night Film of the BFI London Film Festival next month, we’ve seen plenty of great things from Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie already.

The film is a feature-length remake of Burton’s own 1984 short film of the same name, and now a new clip featuring our hero, Victor, and his beloved dog, Sparky, has debuted over at Yahoo Movies.

“A heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new “leash on life” can be monstrous.

A stop-motion animated film, “Frankenweenie” will be filmed in black and white and rendered in 3D, which will elevate the classic style to a whole new experience.

In Tim Burton’s “Frankenweenie” young Victor conducts a science experiment to bring his beloved dog Sparky back to life, only to face unintended, sometimes monstrous, consequences.”

Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short, Martin Landau, Conchata Ferrell, and James Hiroyuki Liao are all lending their voices to the film, with Burton directing from a script by John August (Corpse Bride), and naturally expectations are running high.

Frankenweenie will be released in the US on 5th October, having made its world premiere at Fantastic Fest this Thursday, in Austin, Texas. It will then open the BFI LFF on 10th October, and get a simultaneous UK premiere in 30 cinemas across the country, before opening on wide release here on 17th October. Until then, here’s the excellent new clip to whet your appetites. Enjoy.
