28 years since ‘Sister Act 2’ hit the big screen, the third instalment has finally been given the green light and found a director and writer to give the franchise a new dawning.
Tim Federle, who was responsible for breathing life back into ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The series’, has been brought on to direct the film. Madhuri Shekar will be writing the script for the sequel.
Apart from Whoopi Goldberg returning to reprise her role of Deloris, the nightclub singer turned nun, and will also produce along with Tyler Perry. Tom Leonardis is also producing. No further information has been revealed.

First hit our screens back in 1992, ‘Sister Act’ followed the story of Deloris, a nightclub singer who is forced to go into hiding as a nun at a convent, and inadvertently ends up turning the convent choir into a soulful chorus, until the sudden popularity of the choir jeopardizes her identity. The film became such a big hit, the following year we got the sequel ‘Sister Act 2: Back in The Habit.’
