Say what you like about Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,  it was undeniably entertaining. Contrasting the stark realism of The Dark Knight with it’s interdimensional beings and goofy humour, Indy 4 did for science fiction what it had once done for fantasy.

I would not be exaggerating, and I will no doubt lose some credibility, by admitting that it was by far my favourite film of summer 2008.

For those that hated the film’s demands for a suspension of disbelief, and who argued that aliens were far less realistic than the head-melting Ark of the Covenent, Shia Labeouf will not be winning you over with claims that the fifth outing sounds ‘crazy’. I, on the other hand, cannot wait.

“They’re script writing right now. I got called into Steven’s office and he pitched a little bit to me and it sounds crazy, it sounds really cool.”

It was heavily speculated that the fifth installment would take Indy and Mutt to the Bermuda Triangle, this, however, was later debunked as false by Frank Marshall on his Twitter page.

Providing that the production loses the CGI prairie dogs and Tarzan allusions while keeping the delightful rekindled romance and character dynamics there is no reason why Indiana Jones 5 couldn’t be the highlight of summer 2012 as well.

With the script underway, and with filming finished on Steven Spielberg’s Tintin, Indiana Jones 5 may be on its way shortly.
