According to The Hollywood Reporter, two more actors have been added to the cast of Martin Scorsese’s first venture into 3D – Hugo Cabret.
Emily Mortimer (who appeared in the director’s last feature, Shutter Island) and Michael Stuhlbarg will join the likes of Sacha Baron Cohen, Jude Law, Christopher Lee, Kickass’s Chloe Moretz, Mathieu Amalric and Ray Winstone. Stuhlburg is a new face in cinema (although he’s a renowned stage actor) and made a big impression last year as the put-upon, cuckolded college professor in the Coen Brothers film, A Serious Man.
The film is an adaptation of the award-winning children’s book (another Scorsese first) The Invention of Hugo Cabret, which tells the story of a young orphan living in a Paris train station who uncovers a mystery that jeopardizes his way of life.
This is shaping up to be an interesting project, with its eclectic line-up of actors and the opportunity to see one of cinema’s greats applying his skills and knowledge to the world of 3D.
