Scarlet Johansson and Taron Egerton are reportedly on the cast list to star in a remake of the comedy-horror ‘Little Shop of Horrors’.

Johansson is said to have been offered the part of Audrey Fulquard, whilst Egerton is currently in talks to take on the leading role of Seymour Krelborn. Billy Porter is also said to be a potential to voice the killer plant, Audrey II.

In the 1986 film adaptation, Rick Moranis played the role of Seymour. It follows a florist shop worker, Seymour, who finds out his Venus flytrap can speak. Within the NYC backdrop, his love for his attractive coworker Audrey leads him to name the plant Audrey II. However, as Audrey II begins to grow rapidly, its appetite becomes insatiable. Seymour then begins to feed the Venus flytrap humans, beginning with Audrey’s abusive boyfriend.

This would be the third remake of the movie. The story first hit the silver screen back in 1960 before becoming an off-broadway musical by composer Alan Menken and writer Howard Ashman. In 1986, it returned to the big screen and featured special appearances by Jim Belushi, John Candy, Christopher Guest and Bill Murray.

Egerton is coming off a high after playing Elton John in Dexter Fletcher’s biographical musical ‘Rocketman’. His upcoming projects include returning to voice the character of Johnny in ‘Sing 2’.

Johansson is also flying high at the moment after receiving numerous awards nominations for her roles in both Noah Baumbach’s ‘Marriage Story’ and Taika Waititi’s ‘Jojo Rabbit’. Her upcoming roles see her returning as Natasha Romanoff for ‘Black Widow’.
