The first trailer has been released for The Nice Guys, and this lengthy red-band preview points to it being a darkly hilarious movie with Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe very much the odd couple as they’re forced to put their differences aside and work together on a case.
Following the success of Iron Man 3 (still the only solo Marvel movie to gross over $1 billion at the worldwide box office), Shane Black could have said yes to pretty much any big movie franchise, but the filmmaker is instead returning to his Noir roots with The Nice Guys. It’s an area Black is all too familiar with after helming Kiss Kiss Bang Bang over a decade ago.
Looking at this trailer, the similarities between the two movies quickly become apparent.
The Nice Guys revolves around Ryan Gosling’s down on his luck detective and Russell Crowe as hired muscle, a rather unique pair who are teamed up to track down a missing girl and deal with the seemingly unrelated death of a porn star; their investigation eventually leads them to discover an even greater conspiracy revolving around some sort of corruption.
Set to be released next May, The Nice Guys looks absolutely fantastic as you can see below!
