Abrams would act as producer, while Bong Joon-ho would direct, making it his first US film.

According to their source, JJ Abrams visited Korea earlier this year and held thorough discussions with Bong Joon-ho himself to discuss the possibility of working together on the director’s follow-up to Snow Piercer, which is currently in production.

It’s certainly exciting news, especially as both film-makers have a similar style and attitude toward film-making. However, at this stage, anything mentioned above is truly speculative; no matter how thrilling a concept it may be.

In any case, with Bong Joon-ho’s Snow Piercer scheduled to be released sometime in 2012, and JJ Abrams’ ongoing involvement with the sequel to 2009’s Star Trek, even if this rumour is true, don’t expect anything to come together for a while yet.
