So much for Sylvester Stallone hanging up his gloves in the role of ‘Rocky’ Balboa. He is said to be involved in negotiations to star in ‘Rocky VII’.

At the time of the release of ‘Creed II’ Stallone had publicly said he will be retiring from the role of ‘Rocky’ in favour of the new blood, in particular, Michael B. Jordan in the spin-offs focusing on Apollo Creed’s son, Adonis.

However, in his latest interview with Variety, Stallone has revealed that a seventh ‘Rocky’ is in development. The latest in the long-running beloved franchise is said to focus on Balboa and will involve the onetime boxing champ befriending a young street fighter living in the U.S. illegally. Negotiations are currently underway with Stallone in order for him to write the script and star.

Stallone also revealed that discussions for a prequel series are also in motion to be distributed out on a streaming platform. At this early stage, there are no further details.

Stallone revived the ‘Rocky’ franchise back in 2015 with ‘Creed’ but this time with Michael B’ Jordan’s Adonis Creed in the driving seat and with Ryan Coogler at the helm. For his performance, Stallone was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, his first Oscar nomination since the original film. ‘Creed 2’ soon followed in 2015.

Stallone will also be reprising an age-old character in the return of ‘Rambo’ in ‘Rambo: Last Blood’. His upcoming projects also include ‘Expendables 4’ and biographical drama ‘Tough As They Come’ in which he will direct and star.
