We caught the action-packed first full-length trailer for Resident Evil: Retribution just a few weeks ago, and now Sony have released a pretty sweet banner with Milla Jovovich front and centre, giving an idea of the epic scale we can look forward to later this year.

The fifth instalment sees Paul W.S. Anderson back behind the camera once more, directing from his own script, with new and familiar faces alike starring alongside Jovovich, headed up by Sienna Guillory as Jill Valentine, Johann Urb as Leon Kennedy, Boris Kodjoe as Luther West, Bingbing Li as Ada Wong, and a surprise (and very much welcome) return from Michelle Rodriguez as Rain Ocampo, who starred (and seemingly died) in 2002’s Resident Evil, the first film in the series.

“Alice is captured by Umbrella and awakens in the heart of their operation facility; as she moves further in the complex more of her past is unveiled and continues to hunt for those responsible for the outbreak. Her quest takes her and her newfound allies from Tokyo to New York, Washington, D.C. and Moscow. After a “mind-blowing” revelation, she is forced to rethink everything she once thought to be true.”

The first four films have grossed over $650m. across the years, and with Afterlife, the most recent film, taking just shy of $300m. back in 2010, it wouldn’t be too unreasonable to imagine that Retribution could tip the franchise past the $1bn. mark – especially since September and October are fairly light in the blockbuster department.

Resident Evil: Retribution will be released in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D on 14th September in the US, followed by 28th September in the UK. I have a feeling it’s going to be a lot of fun. As usual with this new banner, you can click to enlarge.
