Robert Schwentke’s RED was very much a highlight for action-comedy fare in recent years, and I’m really looking forward to seeing Bruce Willis and co. return this summer for the sequel, RED 2.

The chemistry between these characters was brilliant the first time around, and that has me excited for what’s still to come. We saw an awesome first full-length trailer a few weeks back. And with its mid-July US release date fast approaching, Summit have released two great new TV spots to help get us back in the right frame of mind.

In RED 2, the high-octane action-comedy sequel to the worldwide sleeper hit, retired black-ops CIA agent Frank Moses reunites his unlikely team of elite operatives for a global quest to track down a missing portable nuclear device. To succeed, they’ll need to survive an army of relentless assassins, ruthless terrorists and power-crazed government officials, all eager to get their hands on the next-generation weapon. The mission takes Frank and his motley crew to Paris, London and Moscow. Outgunned and outmanned, they have only their cunning wits, their old-school skills, and each other to rely on as they try to save the world-and stay alive in the process.

Mary-Louise Parker, John Malkovich, Helen Mirren, and Brian Cox return alongside Willis. And they’re joined by franchise newcomers Catherine Zeta-Jones, Anthony Hopkins, Lee Byung-hun, Neal McDonagh, and David Thewlis.

Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest, Fun with Dick and Jane) is directing from a script once more co-written by brothers Erich and Jon Hoeber.

RED 2 will be released in the US next month on July 19th, and will follow a little later in the UK on 2nd August.
