Believe it or not, season three of Arrow is just a few months away now, and the cast looks set to expand considerably with the addition of three new cast members. They will each be playing a well-known character from the comic books, and we have all the spoiler-free details on each of them for you right here!
22 Jump Street star Peter Stormare will play Count Vertigo, and if that name sounds familiar, it ‘s because the character was played by Seth Gabel in a number of season one and season two episodes. Stormare however will play Werner Zytle, a character who is an actual Count and the ruler of Vlatava.
Hopefully this version will actually have the same powers as his comic book counterpart who uses his “Vertigo Effect” to disrupt his enemies’ balance, something which is problematic for Green Arrow!
Sin City and 2 Fast 2 Furious actress Devon Aoki meanwhile will play Tatsu Yamashiro is Japanese martial arts expert who wields a deadly sword, a blade from which her codename Katana is derived. It’s said that she will have a critical influence on Oliver Queen’s journey to eventually become The Arrow of present day in the flashbacks which take place in the series now that they have shifted from the island.
Katana has starred in her own comic book series a number of times over the years, so it wouldn’t be at all surprising to see her adopt that name and costume at some point in Arrow as well.
Finally, Karl Yune (Memoirs of a Geisha) has landed the role of Maseo Yamashiro, and he too will be introduced in the series through Oliver’s flashbacks as the vigilante’s handler. However, over time, their relationship will evolve to the point when Maseo becomes a friend and mentor to Ollie, helping him to become the current day hero he is in Starling City.In the comic books, Maseo is the husband of Katana.
