Following on from the original 2010 blockbuster, Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief, this summer will see Logan Lerman returning to that world once more with the release of Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters.
Thor Freudenthal (Diary of a Wimpy Kid) is behind the camera this time around, and starring alongside Lerman is a cast that is just a little bit awesome. With the film’s release date set for mid-August, the first images have now debuted over at USA Today, giving us a look at Lerman in action.
The story takes Jackson to the mythical land known as Sea of Monsters to retrieve a golden fleece that is essential to saving an ailing magical tree that protects his home, Camp Half-Blood. He departs with his Olympian sidekicks Annabeth Chase (daughter of the goddess Athena, played by Alexandra Daddario) and Jackson’s protective goat-like satyr Grover (Brandon T. Jackson).
Lerman stars alongside Alexandra Daddario, Brandon T. Jackson, Sean Bean, Nathan Fillion, Stanley Tucci, Jake Abel, Anthony Head, Douglas Smith, and Leven Rambin.
Freudenthal is directing from a script penned by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (Man on the Moon, The People vs. Larry Flynt) and Marc Guggenheim (Green Lantern).
Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters is set to be released on 14th August here in the UK, followed by an August 16th US release date. For now, here are the first official images from the film, which you can click through to enlarge.
