Some fantastic news for all Wonder Woman fans this morning as it’s now been confirmed that the Wonder Woman team are reteaming for the eagerly anticipated sequel from Warner Bros and DC Comics.

After storming the box office this summer, Wonder Woman is about to be unleashed on Blu-ray and DVD in the US and to give you more of an incentive to buy the film, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that director Patty Jenkins is officially returning for the sequel. According to the trade, the deal will see Jenkins become the highest-paid female director ever with an estimated deal of around $8-$9million plus a chunk of the grosses at the back-end of the deal.

The film, which was released this summer, went on to become the highest-grossing film of the summer in the US with over $410million, marking the highest-grossing film of the DCEU thus far and the highest-grossing origin superhero film ever. Furthermore, the film is Warner Bros and DC’s third highest-grossing superhero film of all time after The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises. Overseas, the film has done similar business and so far has earned around $816million.

Now the deal is confirmed for Jenkins, and indeed Gal Gadot who will also return, she and DC Films head-honcho Geoff Johns have begun writing the screenplay, which is set to see Wonder Woman/ Diana Prince come to America.

Gal Gadot lead the cast of the first film, which co-starred Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Lucy Davis, Ewan Bremner and Robin Wright.

Wonder Woman 2 is slated for release on December 13th, 2019.
