Everyone’s favourite marmalade-loving bear is heading back to the big screen with an impressive new creative team in tow. The fourth instalment in the hugely successful ‘Paddington’ franchise is officially moving forward, with Emmy-winning writer and creator Armando Iannucci set to pen the screenplay.
Best known for acclaimed political comedies like ‘Veep’ and ‘The Thick of It,’ Iannucci will bring his sharp wit and distinctive storytelling style to the next chapter in the adventures of Paddington Bear.
Joining Iannucci on screenplay duties is long-time collaborator Simon Blackwell, who also worked extensively on both ‘Veep’ and ‘The Thick of It.’ The pair previously earned Emmy and Oscar recognition for their work together.

Meanwhile, Dougal Wilson is reportedly in talks to return to the director’s chair following his feature debut on ‘Paddington in Peru.’ Wilson took over directing duties on the third film after Paul King helmed the beloved first two entries, helping establish the series as one of the most critically adored modern family franchises.
King directed ‘Paddington’ and ‘Paddington 2,’ co-writing the latter alongside Simon Farnaby. The third film, ‘Paddington in Peru,’ was written by Mark Burton, Jon Foster and James Lamont.
