Joe Lo Truglio is best known to audiences for his comedic performances, in the likes of Superbad & Brooklyn 99. But now he’s turned his talents to directing, and in a somewhat surprising turn of events, he’s seemingly far more interested in telling horror stories. Outpost is one such movie, and to mark the film’s release on September 11th, we had the pleasure of speaking to the filmmaker.

He talks to us about the film’s journey from conception to screen, and what it was like directing his wife Beth Dover in the leading role. He also talks about the delicate handling of trauma in the film, and looks back across his career, notably on the lasting impact of Superbad…

Synopsis

After a violent attack, a woman searches for strength in the solitude of a lookout job, but is overwhelmed by something darker.
