Oscar Isaac and Jake Gyllenhaal have been cast in the upcoming movie about the making of ‘The Godfather’, ‘Francis and the Godfather’.
Isaac will take on the role of director Francis Ford Coppola while Jake Gyllenhaal will play producer Robert Evans.
The film will follow the legendary and wild battles that went into making the 1972 classic ‘The Godfather’. Coppola was 31 at the time, determined to convince Evans and the studio to allow him to film expensively in New York, set in the time period of a novel which would become a big bestseller. It will also cover the issue of hiring Marlon Brando in the titular role for the film after not having worked for years and the resistance faced from the actual real-life mafia men too.

Barry Levinson will direct, from a script by Andrew Farotte which was redeveloped by Levinson. Mike Marcus, Doug Mankoff, Kevin Turen, Jon Levin, Jason Sosnoff and Andrew Spaulding are producing.
Other favourite characters due to be cast in the feature will be Robert Duvall, James Caan, Talia Shire and Diane Keaton, various major Paramount execs and Mario Puzo himself.
Coppola has given his blessing for the film, commenting “Any movie that Barry Levinson makes about anything, will be interesting and worthwhile!”
A new cut for the third ‘Godfather’ movie, retitled ‘The Godfather, Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone’ is set to be released on Blu-Ray and digital in December.
