The Dark Knight RisesThe countdown to The Dark Knight Rises stands at three weeks and one day, and we’ve now got seven great hi-res images to add to the brilliantly stepped-up campaign we’ve seen in recent weeks and months.

Though there’s been plenty to enjoy from the trailers, TV spots, images, and posters, I still think that when we head into theatres come 20th July, we’ll realise we knew almost nothing beforehand – the Nolan brothers are bound to keep everything important under wraps.

[Potential small spoiler advanced warning]

Christian Bale will be back for one final outing as the Dark Knight in Christopher Nolan’s epic conclusion, and he’ll of course be joined by Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, and Marion Cotillard.

Chris Nolan is behind the camera to complete his and co-writer/brother Jonathan Nolan’s Batman trilogy, with a story by the director and David S. Goyer (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight).

These images surfaced back in April, but now that they’ve been released in higher resolution, you’ll see that in the Bruce Wayne-personalised robe image, the front page headline reads ‘G-20 Protests: Police Arrest Hundreds in Gotham’. With talk last year of the film shooting in New York during the Occupy Wall Street movement, maybe we’ll see that transplanted into Occupy Gotham, or something similar.

The Dark Knight Rises will be released in regular and IMAX theatres on 20th July. Tickets for the latter are on sale now. Expect immensity and nothing less. With The Avengers now behind us, this is the biggest blockbuster of the year that should be on everyone’s calendars.
