In an interview at the Venice International Film Festival while promoting Ben Affleck’s The Town, Jeremy Renner let dropped word that he and Noomi Rapace are in the running to star in Paramount’s Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters.

Renner, ever since starring in The Hurt Locker, has been thurst into the public eye and already has parts in both Mission: Impossible 4 and The Avengers.

If Noomi Rapace is cast, this will be her English-language feature film debut. She previously starred as Lisbeth Salander in the Millenium Trilogy, a series of films adapted from Stieg Larsson’s highly-acclaimed novels.

Tommy Wirkola (Dead Snow) is currently attached to direct, which picks up 15 years after the siblings’ incident at the gingerbread house. Hansel and Gretel are now specialized bounty hunters looking to put down the cackling black-hat set. Wirkola wrote the script with Dante Harper.
