Wreck-It Ralph PosterBy far one of the most anticipated animated films of the year, Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph will arrive in theatres in the US in just under a month, and now the studio have released a new UK trailer for what promises to be an instant classic.

John C. Reilly lends his voice as the eponymous Wreck-It Ralph, and he’s joined by a great cast, headed up by Jack McBrayer, Sue Lynch, Sarah Silverman, Alan Tudyk, Dennis Haysbert, and Ed O’Neill.

“Ralph is tired of being overshadowed by Fix-It Felix, the good guy star of their game who always gets to save the day. But after decades doing the same thing and seeing all the glory go to Felix, Ralph decides he’s tired of playing the role of a bad guy. He takes matters into his own massive hands and sets off on a game-hopping journey across the arcade through every generation of video games to prove he’s got what it takes to be a hero.

On his quest, Wreck-It Ralph meets the tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun from the first-person action game Hero’s Duty. But it’s the feisty misfit Vanellope von Schweetz from the candy-coated cart racing game, Sugar Rush, whose world is threatened when Ralph accidentally unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens the entire arcade. Will Ralph realise his dream and save the day before it’s too late?”

Rich Moore (The Simpsons, Futurama), the two-time Emmy-winning director, is making his feature directorial debut, directing from a script co-written by Phil Johnston (Cedar Rapids) and newcomer Jennifer Lee.

Wreck-It Ralph will be released in 3D in the US on 2nd November, before coming to the UK a little later, set for a 15th February, 2013 release. As much as I’d love to see this a lot sooner than that, I know it will be worth the wait, and have a feeling it could well be heading to the Oscars soon after. For now, here’s the excellent UK trailer. Enjoy.
