So, bypassing the obligatory ‘new District 9′ nonsense, let’s get down to business. There’s a new trailer for Gareth Edwards’ alien invasion film Monsters roaming around the internet this evening and we’ve managed to cage it for you good people to see.

We were at the Edinburgh Film Festival when this film was shown, our review is here, and there’s a fair amount of buzz behind this one ahead of its showing at Frightfest in London on the 28th of August and its eventual release later in the year.

While some of the images and the footage seen so far offer a very basic glimpse into this film it is this trailer, that gives us our closest look yet at what Edwards has in store for us.

Here’s the moving picture show.

Synopsis: Six years ago NASA discovered the possibility of alien life within our solar system. A probe was launched to collect samples, but crashed upon re-entry over Central America.

Soon after, new life forms began to appear there and half of Mexico was quarantined as an INFECTED ZONE. Today, the American and Mexican military still struggle to contain “the creatures”…

Our story begins when a US journalist agrees to escort a shaken American tourist through the infected zone in Mexico to the safety of the US border.
