Like Peter Pan, Spider-Man just won’t grow up. According to a new report, the next version of the character – who will be a creation of both Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures – is going back to high school. That will be the third time then, as both Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man dealt with Spidey’s school life.

However, this reboot will apparently “spend more time in the setting and explore his awkward relationship with other students while fighting crime out of the classroom.” That would certainly be interesting to see, especially as Peter Parker’s school life has never really been explored that thoroughly in the past movies.

As a result, Sony and Marvel are looking for a younger actor to play the iconic superhero, and two names have now emerged as being possible candidates. Those are Logan Lerman (Fury) and Dylan O’Brien (The Maze Runner). Both men are in their early 20s and could easily pass for the 16 – 18 age range wanted.

No one has been approached as of yet, but Andrew Garfield has been let go alongside the director of The Amazing Spider-Man movies, Marc Webb. According to a number of outlets, Spidey will first join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in next year’s Captain America: Civil War. He’ll then star in his own movie in 2017.

The deal between Marvel and Sony was obviously historic, but it raised a number of questions. You can find some of the biggest by clicking here. Meanwhile, our top ten picks for the new Spider-Man are right here!
