The follow-up to Rise of the Planet of the Apes is set ten years after that movie, and focuses on Caesar as he attempts to lead the colony of apes who he led to freedom from captivity several years earlier. Meanwhile, a virus has wiped out most of humanity, but those left are fighting for survival.
Also below (via Collider) is a brand new poster for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes featuring an older Caesar and one of his children.
This sequel looks fantastic, and after rave reviews of the footage which was shown off during CinemaCon recently, we should be in for a real treat come July 11th. A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
Starring Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Enrique Murciano, Kirk Acevedo and Judy Greer, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is set to be released on July 11th, 2014.
