The-Lone-Ranger-Character-Poster-Helena-Bonham-CarterAfter working together on Pirates of the Caribbean and Rango, Gore Verbinski and Johnny Depp are reuniting once more this year to bring us Disney’s summer blockbuster, The Lone Ranger.

Depp stars as Tonto opposite Armie Hammer, who takes the titular role as John Reid / The Lone Ranger, himself. And after catching two new character posters for the leading duo yesterday, a new character poster has revealed our first look at Helena Bonham Carter as Red.

Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Armie Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice–taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.

Hammer, Depp, and Bonham Carter are joined by a great cast, led by Tom Wilkinson, William Fichtner, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale, and Ruth Wilson.

Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean, Rango) is directing from a script written by Terry Rossio and Ted Elliott, who penned all four Pirates films, and Justin Haythe (Revolutionary Road).

The blockbuster was one of the handful of films promoted back in February with a Super Bowl TV Spot. And since then, we’ve seen a great new international trailer from Disney’s Japanese arm. All the footage we’ve had so far suggests the film is going to be a big hit come summer. And, naturally, we’re looking forward to Depp’s return to the big screen, bringing his own take to the classic character.

The Lone Ranger will be released on July 3rd in the US, and has its UK release date set for a little later on 9th August. It’s been six years since we last saw Verbinski and Depp working together on a live-action blockbuster with a scale quite as large as this one, and I can’t wait to see what they’re bringing us next.
