The-Lone-Ranger-PosterAfter seeing John Carter lose roughly $200m. for Disney last year, all eyes will be on The Lone Ranger this summer to see how it performs. Gore Verbinski’s latest film had its fair share of troubles through pre-production over budgets, but what we’ve seen of the film so far would suggest that Disney will be happy with the end results.

Particularly when you factor in the fact that Johnny Depp-led blockbusters tend to make a lot of money.

The first full-length trailer landed in time for Christmas. And the studio gave us an awesome new poster during the week, along with a preview of this new TV spot. And with the Super Bowl in full swing, they’ve debuted the film’s big game ad in full.

“Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Armie Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice–taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.”

Armie Hammer stars alongside Depp as John Reid / The Lone Ranger, himself. And joining the two is a great cast, headed up by Tom Wilkinson, William Fichtner, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale, Ruth Wilson, and Helena Bonham Carter.

Verbinski is reuniting with writing duo Terry Rossio and Ted Elliott, who penned all four Pirates films, and who co-wrote the script here with Justin Haythe (Revolutionary Road).

The Lone Ranger will be hitting US theatres on 3rd July in the height of the summer this year. Here in the UK, its release is set a little later for 9th August, but it looks like it’s going to be well worth the wait. Johnny Depp usually is. For now, here’s The Lone Ranger’s Super Bowl TV spot for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy.
