Noah-Lomax-Julianne-Hough-Mimi-Kirkland-and-Josh-Duhamel-in-Safe-HavenSafe Haven marks the latest in the highly successful adaptations of Nicholas Sparks’ original novels, most recently seen on the big screen last year in the Zac Efron-led The Lucky One.

Josh Duhamel (Transformers) and Julianne Hough (Rock of Ages) star in the leads in the latest adaptation, and with a Valentine’s Day release set in the US, it promises to be another big success.

Last week brought with it the UK trailer, and now two new images of Duhamel and Hough have surfaced, giving us a look at Hough’s character integrating into the life of Duhamel’s.

“SAFE HAVEN is an affirming and suspenseful story about a young woman’s struggle to love again, Safe Haven is based on the novel from Nicholas Sparks, the best-selling author behind the hit films The Notebook and Dear John. When a mysterious young woman arrives in a small North Carolina town, her reluctance to join the tight knit community raises questions about her past. Slowly, she begins putting down roots, and gains the courage to start a relationship with Alex, a widowed store owner with two young children. But dark secrets intrude on her new life with such terror that she is forced to rediscover the meaning of sacrifice and rely on the power of love in this deeply moving romantic thriller.”

Three-time Oscar nominee, Lasse Hallström (Chocolat, What’s Eating Gilbert Grape) is behind the camera, directing from a script by Leslie Bohem (TV’s Taken) and Dana Stevens (City of Angels), with Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother, The Avengers) and David Lyons (Grey’s Anatomy) completing the cast nicely, alongside child actors Noah Lomax (Playing for Keeps) and newcomer Mimi Kirkland.

Safe Haven will be released in the US on 14th February, 2013, and will follow shortly after in the UK on 1st March. For now, here are the new images, both of which you can click through to enlarge.
