This-Is-40-PosterJudd Apatow’s This Is 40 is just weeks away from hitting the big screen, and all we’ve seen so far suggests it’s going to be one of the best comedies of the year. Universal are already gearing up for an awards campaign, and it will be very interesting to see if its name appears come January’s list of nominees.

We saw a great new featurette for the film yesterday, and now the first clip has surfaced over at moviefone, giving us a brilliant look at a conversation between Paul Rudd’s Pete and Leslie Mann’s Debbie.

“Writer/director/producer Judd Apatow (The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Funny People) brings audiences This Is 40, an original comedy that expands upon the story of Pete (Paul Rudd) and Debbie (Leslie Mann) from the blockbuster hit Knocked Up as we see firsthand how they are dealing with their current state of life.”

Starring alongside Rudd and Mann is an excellent cast, headed up by Jason Segel, Maude and Iris Apatow, Megan Fox, Albert Brooks, Chris O’Dowd, John Lithgow, Melisssa McCarthy, and the ever-brilliant Lena Dunham.

Apatow is once more directing from his own script, and serves as producer as well alongside past collaborators Barry Mandel (Serenity, Bridesmaids) and Clayton Townsend (Knocked Up, Bridesmaids).

This Is 40 will be released in the US on 21st December, just in time for both the holiday and the awards season, with its UK release coming slightly later on 14th February. Apatow is certainly well worth the wait. For now, here’s the great first clip, with excellent performances from both Rudd and Mann. Enjoy.
