Over the summer, we brought you a couple of trailers for Japanese live-action comic-book adap “Space Battleship Yamato”. We can now add to that a five minute clip from the film, courtesy of Ain’t It Cool News.
The sequences of the eponymous Battleship rising out of the ground are pretty impressive and the quality of the SFX is generally excellent, however it does all seem to be taking itself a bit seriously, especially given that no-one seems to have noticed that Captain Birdseye is at the helm. In addition, unless you’re like James Bond and grabbed yourself a first in oriental languages at Cambridge, you may struggle a little with the lack of subtitles, however it is not too hard to tell what is going on in general terms.
Still no word on a cinema or DVD release date, but we will keep you advised. Enjoy the clip below.
