Seeking a Friend for the End of the World UK posterThe first trailer for Seeking a Friend for the End of the World was released earlier this year, and instantly made it one of the summer’s most anticipated films.

Steve Carell and Keira Knightley star in what looks to be an unexpected but excellent pairing as co-leads, with a great supporting cast in the form of Adam Brody, Melanie Lynskey, Patton Oswalt, William Peterson, Gillian Jacobs, and many more.

Following the two new UK posters we saw earlier this week, Apple have released a great new featurette giving us a look at new footage from the movie cut between interview with Carell, Knightley, and the writer-director Lorene Scafaria.

“Set in a too-near future, a man searches for a meaningful connection as humanity’s last days are at hand. Can he find his greatest love at the worst possible time? As the respective journeys of Dodge (Steve Carell) and Penny (Keira Knightley) converge, the two spark to each other and their outlooks – if not the world’s – brighten.”

Scafaria is making her directorial debut here, having made a fantastic writing debut with the Michael Cera- and Kat Dennings-starrer Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist back in 2008. It looks like she’s worked her magic once more with this follow-up, and I can’t wait to see what she’s like behind the camera – it’s looking impressive.

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World will be released in the US in three weeks’ time on 22nd June, and will come to the UK a little later for a 13th July release. Commit those dates to memory, because this is absolutely a must-see film of the summer. You can catch up on all our coverage for the film here, and for now, the great new featurette for your viewing pleasure.
