Currently playing in theatres in the US, the film will be released on our shores in the UK slightly later, arriving just in time for Christmas next month, and now Fox have released a great new featurette, focusing on newcomer Suraj Sharma, who takes the lead here in his debut role.
“Director Ang Lee (Brokeback Mountain, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) creates a groundbreaking movie event about a young man who survives a tragic disaster at sea and is hurtled into an epic journey of adventure and discovery. While marooned on a lifeboat, he forms an amazing and unexpected connection with the ship’s only other survivor — a fearsome Bengal tiger.”
Sharma stars alongside an excellent cast, headed up by Irrfan Khan, Tabu, Rafe Spall, and Gérard Depardieu, with Lee directing from a script by Oscar-nominated David Magee (Finding Neverland), adapting the critically acclaimed and best-selling novel by Yann Martel.
Life of Pi is currently playing in 3D in the US, having been released last Friday, and will be arriving in theatres in the UK on 20th December, in time for the holiday season. I cannot wait. For now, here’s the great new featurette to help tie you over.
