The curtain is slowly being peeled away to reveal what Terrence Malick’s mercurial genius has in store for us next with The Tree of Life and those lucky enough to be out in Cannes this year are mere days away from the long awaited debut.
We’ve been teased with a few plot points and dinosaur photos, not to mention the stunning trailer which managed to give almost nothing tangible away about the actual story but instead impress upon us a mood, an untamed whirl of intimate moments and shots of the timeless depths of space. It was breathtaking and if anyone can make good on this promise it’s Malick.
There’s a new clip in town today, and features Brad Pitt teaching his sons to fight and the theme of paternal care and expectation is important to the bigger picture I’m sure.
